Selection boxes missing on replication tab

I have a user recently deployed on a MACBOOK Pro, 10.6 OS and he has lost the "selection" boxes on his replicator tab - neither the Enabled nor the High Priority check boxes are visible. He cannot enable his contact synchronization and therefore it does not automatically occur. He can manually synchronize by right-clicking on the Synchronize Contacts line and selecting "Replicate Selected Application".
